A Scholarship Offering
in the
Memory of Steve Turner
(1937 - 2012)

          About Steve Turner:

As a advocate of writers rights, Steve Turner was nationally known as a founding member of the National Writers Union and was its national grievance officer. For many years he was co-chair of the Santa Cruz-Monterey local with Ray A. March (co-founder of the Surprise Valley Writers' Conference).
As a staunch organizer, he was always willing to stand up for equality and in behalf of the underdog. In essence, Turner was a most "democratic" supporter of writers in their—many times, embattled—efforts to gain fair contracts and protective copyrights of their work.
